The “EPPO” application, developed by Ukrainian volunteers, provides information about low-visibility missiles and drones. It helps Ukraine close the sky by 80%.
Kateryna Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization, announced this on Facebook.
Thanks to the “EPPO” application, every Ukrainian can help the Defense Forces protect the sky. Ukrainian volunteers “Technaries” developed an application so that civilians who discovered low-flying enemy targets could promptly report them to the Air Force.
Russian missiles very often hide from radars in difficult landscape conditions, and you can detect them only by seeing or hearing them.
The Ukrainian development has been operating for more than two years and successfully complements the existing air defense systems, providing information about inconspicuous missiles and drones, so the application has become a warning channel between citizens and the state, Chernogorenko explained.
In order to use the “EPPO” application, you must first identify yourself through the “Diya” application and confirm your identity.
“If you see or hear a target, open the application, select the type of object you see: drone, missile, plane or helicopter, and press the big red button to send a message,” Chernogorenko explained the algorithm for using the application.
After 2-7 seconds, the data appears on the air defense maps of all officers, and the system uses artificial intelligence to accurately predict the trajectory of the targets, with which the mobile air defense fire groups quickly eliminated the threat.
The program also has a “You’re flying” function, which directly warns users that a missile may be moving in their direction.
The “EPPO” system helps Ukraine close the sky by 80%, Chernogorenko added. Such indicators were achieved thanks to the popularity of the development, because it was downloaded more than 600,000 times. times and are actively used by 200,000 people.
