Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 championship ahead of time, having already won the 4th title in his career. This is reported by “Suspilne Sport”, transmits UNN.

Details

“Verstappen defended the title of Formula 1 champion at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. For the championship, the 27-year-old Dutchman had to overtake his main competitor, Lando Norris from McLaren, or not lose more than three points to him in Las Vegas – under other circumstances, the fate of the championship was postponed at least until the next stage in Qatar,” the newspaper writes.

According to the results of 50 laps of the distance, Verstappen was ahead of Norris: he finished in the fifth position, while the Briton came right behind him.

Verstappen leads Norris by 64 points in the Formula 1 standings with two races to go. The Briton will no longer be able to bypass the Dutchman.

Verstappen won his fourth consecutive F1 title and fourth overall, following victories in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and tied Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel for the most championships. Three drivers are ahead of the Dutchman: Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton (seven titles each), as well as Juan-Manuel Fangio (five).
