Several Storm Shadow missiles hit the Russian Presidential Administration sanatorium in Marino, Kursk Oblast, causing significant military casualties, including the death of a high-ranking Russian commander, according to multiple sources, Defense Express reported.
The November 20 attack targeted an underground facility and killed 18 servicemen and wounded 33, according to the Spy Dossier Telegram channel.
Among the dead was Lieutenant General Valery Solodchuk, the first deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District, who previously commanded the 1st Army Corps of the so-called “DPR” in 2014, the channel reported.
Lieutenant General Valery Solodchuk died as a result of a Storm Shadow strike on November 20.
The strike also reportedly wounded three North Korean military officials, including two male officers and a woman initially identified as a medic. However, sources suggest that she may have served as a translator.
According to the “Spy Dossier”, among the victims were numerous Russian officers from the Southern and Eastern military districts.
In a subsequent incident, 13 Russian sappers, including the deputy chief of staff of the 88th Mechanized Brigade, were wounded while trying to defuse unexploded ordnance on the spot, the Spy Dossier reports.
The presence of high-ranking figures during the post-strike clean-up operations suggests the possibility of additional casualties among senior officers beyond those initially reported.
“The presence of such high-ranking figures during the post-strike cleanup may indicate that casualties are not limited to officers and one general,” Defense Express suggests.
