“Yesterday evening there was a message that the airspace is closed from 06:00 to 22:00 [РФ] in connection with the possibility of new tests at the Kapustyn Yar training ground, from where this Cedar was launched along the Dnieper. Should this be considered as a threat of an attack on the territory of Ukraine? Yes, it’s worth it. Another blow may be struck on the territory of Ukraine, as we have heard that the Russians have at least two or more than two of these experimental model Cedars. They are currently conducting tests of this system, and the territory of Ukraine serves as a testing ground,” the military expert outlined.

Popovych added what to prepare for:

“Will this launch be mandatory? Not necessarily. It can be just a trial somewhere, even for targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. That is, the fact that they launched it will not necessarily be on the territory of Ukraine, but a similar probability should be expected.”

At the same time, he added that our capabilities to shoot down this type of ballistics very, very limited”, in particular, theoretical ones regarding the Patriot air defense system. Moreover, we will not be able to say exactly where this missile will fly if the launch takes place on the territory of Ukraine, the expert concluded.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on the morning of November 21, Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile over Ukraine from the Astrakhan region, it was flying towards the Dnipro.

Ukrainian Pravda, citing its sources, wrote that the occupiers probably used the RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time.

Western officials did not confirm the information about the intercontinental missile to the media and said that it was probably an experimental medium-range ballistic missile. An unnamed U.S. official told CNN that Russia has only a few such missiles and that Ukraine has weathered missiles with more powerful warheads.

On the same day, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced in an address that the Russian army attacked the Dnipro with the newest Oreshnyk medium-range system, about which there was no information before.

Subsequently, specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense stated that the strike on November 21 could have been carried out ballistic missile from the Kedr missile complex”. According to GUR, its tests took place in October 2023 and June 2024.
