The area of responsibility of the new member of the board is the centralized operational and technological management of the UES of Ukraine, coordination of its parallel work with the energy association ENTSO-E. It was Vitaly Zaichenko who managed the Ukrainian energy system at all stages of its connection to the European continental energy grid, the company notes.
Zaichenko started working at Ukrenergo in 1996 and worked his way up from engineer to chief dispatcher of the unified energy system (since 2015). Took an active part in research to create the “Island of Burshtyn TPP”.
In 2022, on the first day of a full-scale Russian invasion, Zaichenko was responsible for switching the Ukrainian energy system into an isolated mode of operation, and subsequently for its integration into the European energy system.
In addition to Zaichenko, the board of Ukrenergo includes: Oleksiy Brecht (acting chairman of the board), Serhiy Galagan (responsible for strategy), Oleg Skrypnyk (responsible for financial policy).
On September 2, 2024, the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, was dismissed from his position. Acting Oleksiy Brecht was appointed the chairman of the board of the company.
On October 10, the Cabinet of Ministers announced a competition for the positions of independent members of the supervisory board of Ukrenergo.
