In Germany, the number of corporate bankruptcies increased by 23% in October compared to October 2023.

It is noted that the trend of increasing bankruptcies has been observed since June 2024.
The largest number of bankruptcies per 10,000 companies occurred in the transport and warehouse sector – 9.2 cases. This is followed by the hospitality industry with 7.8 bankruptcies and other economic services (such as temporary employment agencies) with 7.3 bankruptcies, and the construction industry with 7.2 bankruptcies per 10,000 companies.
According to the forecasts of Bild analysts, in 2024 the number of corporate bankruptcies in Germany will exceed 20,000.
Stefan Müller, a professor at the Halle Institute for Economic Research, explains that the situation has become critical for many companies after they stopped receiving aid from the state.
