In connection with Russia’s use of a new type of weapon against Ukraine during the Dnipro attack, namely an intercontinental ballistic missile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is using the response mechanisms of the UN, NATO and plans to involve the mechanisms of the OSCE.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine at a briefing, reports Ukrinform.
“I can inform you that in connection with Russia’s use of this new type of weapon against Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is already taking a number of political and diplomatic steps, in particular, we have already contacted our partners with information about what happened, what we know at the moment . We are also already using UN mechanisms, NATO mechanisms and plan to involve OSCE mechanisms to respond to this event,” he said.
He added that in addition to formal appeals and notes, Ukraine expects the convening of separate formats in order to “wake up the world and attract attention.”
“If the use of an intercontinental ballistic missile is confirmed, we believe that it will be possible to state that the Russian Federation has degraded to the status of North Korea, which regularly launches such missiles, scaring its neighbors, scaring the world,” the diplomat emphasized.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the world community and every leader who respects the UN charter to immediately react to the Russian use of a new type of weapon, not to wait for detailed, expert conclusions and to show Russia the inadmissibility of such actions.
“In addition to statements, we need specific actions from partners and allies to protect human lives, namely strengthening the air shield over Ukraine, providing Ukraine with complexes capable of intercepting this type of missiles. There are such complexes in the world, and it’s time to hand them over to Ukraine,” Tykhy noted.
He did not reveal the details of what systems Ukraine needs, but noted that there are several of them in the world, and any system capable of resisting such threats should be in Ukraine.
