The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. According to the website of the court on November 21, they are suspected of committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The ICC also announced that it had issued an arrest warrant for the leader of the military wing of the Hamas group (recognized as a terrorist in the US and the EU), Muhammad Diab Ibrahim al-Masri, known as Muhammad Deif. In August 2024, the Israel Defense Forces announced the death of Deif as a result of an attack on the Khan Yunis area.

Earlier, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as three leaders of the Hamas group.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages, more than a hundred of whom are still in captivity.

Israel responded by launching a military operation against the militants. Subsequently, the conflict spread to Lebanon – the IDF also began to destroy Hezbollah fighters (a group recognized as a terrorist in the US, but only its armed wing is considered a terrorist in the EU), who promised to fight against Israel due to its military operation in the Gaza Strip.
