In Kyiv, a drunk driver hit a 14-year-old girl who was crossing the road at a green traffic light. After hitting a pedestrian, he ran away from the scene of the accident, but was later detained by law enforcement officers, the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office reported on November 21.

As a result of the road accident, a 14-year-old girl received moderate injuries and was hospitalized at the “Okhmatdyt” children’s hospital. Drager’s device recorded 2.33 ppm of alcohol in the driver, law enforcement officers say.

The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the 33-year-old driver was informed of the suspicion of a violation of road safety rules committed while intoxicated. The man is in custody.

In the spring, the head of the patrol police department, Oleksiy Biloshitskyi, said that in Ukraine, an unprecedentedly high level of traffic accidents due to driving while intoxicated is recorded. According to his data, given in May, for four months of the year, the police recorded almost 50,000 cases of drunken driving.
