Today, November 21, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading draft law No. 11543 aimed at strengthening security in institutions of general secondary education. The draft law was supported by 235 people’s deputies, as reported by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The document foresees new requirements for school founders, who are obliged to ensure not only occupational safety and fire safety, but also the general safety of the educational environment. Heads of educational institutions should promote the prevention of offenses among students and take measures to prevent harm to participants in the educational process.
Among the innovations are equipping schools with technical means of protection, including emergency police call systems, securing school territory and establishing rules for staying on its territory. A list of prohibitions and restrictions on persons who can guard educational institutions is also determined.
These changes are aimed at creating a safe educational environment for students, teachers and school staff.
Earlier, the Ministry of Social Policy prepared a draft law “On universal mandatory accumulative pension provision”. It is proposed to introduce mandatory payment to state or non-state pension funds for both employees and employers.
Recently, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on the reform of the Accounting Chamber. The number of RP members will now decrease to 11, and international experts will be given priority in the selection process.
