In the first reading, the Verkhovna Rada supported draft law No. 10298 on expanding the list of persons who cannot be adoptive parents. The ban applies to traitors, collaborators and persons prosecuted for domestic violence, People’s Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko said in Telegram, writes UNN.

“The Council voted in the first reading of the draft law on the definition of persons who cannot be adoptive parents (No. 10298). “For” – 245,” Goncharenko said.

As the People’s Deputy noted, the draft law expands the list of persons who cannot be adoptive parents or guardians:

  • Persons convicted of crimes against the state, such as treason, collaborative activity, aiding the aggressor, justifying the aggression of the Russian Federation or glorifying its participants.
  • Persons brought to administrative responsibility for domestic violence or gender-based violence.
