The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that “changes in the nuclear doctrine and recent threats by Russia should be considered as blackmail.”
“Russia has already used this tactic many times to intimidate Ukraine, Europe and the world. We must remain firm and not succumb to intimidation,” Sibiga said at a press conference with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg during a visit to Austria on November 20.
The minister noted that Russia continues to escalate the war, including involving North Korean troops. According to him, Moscow’s aggressive actions go far beyond the battlefield, in particular through the use of energy as a weapon. The minister noted that Austria recently felt this and emphasized that the common task of the allies is to counter Russian pressure.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed his Austrian colleague about Russia’s attacks on the energy system of Ukraine, in particular, the recent mass attack, which also targeted nuclear energy facilities.
“This strike was Putin’s real answer to all those who have recently visited him or talked to him on the phone. Putin has made it clear: he wants war and continues to speak the language of ultimatums. We must force him to make peace, not ask him for peace,” – the minister emphasized.
