The US Embassy in Ukraine says it has received “specific information” about a possible major air strike on November 20.

“As a precaution, the embassy will be closed… The embassy recommends that US citizens be prepared to take shelter immediately in the event of an airstrike alert,” said the message posted on the diplomatic mission’s website.

The embassy did not give any details about the possible strike.

At the moment, there is an air alert in some regions of Ukraine, in particular in Kyiv, due to the launch of drones by Russia.

The message from the embassy came after Russian President Vladimir Putin updated Russia’s nuclear doctrine on November 19, the 1,000th day of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The updated doctrine provides that the basis for a nuclear attack can be “aggression against the Russian Federation and its allies by any non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear state”, as well as a massive air attack by non-nuclear means, in particular drones.

The Pentagon said that they do not see any signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are targeted.
