According to the correspondent of UNIAN, the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen said this at a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Kyiv.
She noted that there are no changes in Denmark’s plans to transfer a certain number of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
“Six were delivered. This was the first batch,” Frederiksen said.
She also emphasized that starting in August 2023, Denmark is involved in the training of Ukrainian pilots to fly these fighters.
“It was difficult, but we were able to succeed in the training. Therefore, the process continues. And then there will be another batch and another next batch. There will be 19 (planes) in total, as we said at the very beginning,” Frederiksen added.
Updated at 6:11 p.m. Frederiksen promises that Denmark will remain steadfast in its support of Ukraine and defends the position that our country should win the war. She noted that she was glad to announce today new aid for Ukraine:
“More than 130 million euros are going directly to the Ukrainian defense industry. Now we know what your defense industry is capable of. Because we know that these investments really change the situation on the battlefield. And don’t doubt that our support is long-term.”
According to her, Denmark has pledged to allocate 8.5 billion euros for security assistance. 1.75 billion euros will be allocated only next year.
F-16 fighters in the war in Ukraine – important newsAs UNIAN reported, F-16 fighters were involved in repelling the latest Russian combined missile-drone attack on Sunday. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noted that in total, Russia launched more than 200 missiles and drones per day.
In addition, Norway has promised to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine already this year. The country is also ready to allocate funds for the purchase of weapons systems and spare parts for Ukrainian aircraft within the framework of the US “Jumpstart” initiative.
