Ukraine deserves the fact that the next year will be a year of peace – the President’s address to the participants of the special session of the European Parliament dedicated to the thousand days of full-scale war

European values and the European way of life, when translated into action, protect the lives of real people.”, — write: www.president.gov.ua

Thank you very much. Thank you very much, dear Roberto, Madam President!

Dear ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, our friends, friends of Ukraine!

Thank you for your support of Ukraine.

Thank you, Roberto, for convening this extraordinary session of the European Parliament on the occasion of a thousand days of full-scale war.

Thank you for the fact that none of the thousand days of this terrible war was a day of betrayal of our common European values.

We proved that these values are not just words, not something abstract. European values and the European way of life, when translated into action, protect the lives of real people. Thank you very much!

Together – Ukraine, all of Europe, our partners in America and around the world – we managed not only to prevent Putin’s attempt to seize Ukraine, but also to protect the freedom of all European peoples.

Even with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on his side, Putin’s forces are inferior to the combined forces of Europe. I urge you not to forget this. Don’t forget how much Europe is capable of achieving.

If we have been able to prevent the destruction of the European way of life, then we will undoubtedly be able to push Russia towards a just peace.

It is peace that we desire the most. Two years ago, we proposed the Peace Formula, and I am grateful to all of Europe and every partner who supported it. And you in the European Parliament were among the first to support the Peace Formula. And the only one who opposes it is the one who started this war, this is Russia.

And we must incline Russia to a just peace.

Every strike and every threat from Russia must be met with tough sanctions.

Within a thousand days, it was imperative to significantly reduce Russia’s ability to finance its war through the sale of oil. Oil is the blood of the Putin regime. And the shadow fleet of tankers is what supports its existence.

While these tankers are operating, Putin continues to kill. Strong sanctions are necessary.

I thank each of you, thank you again Roberto, thank you to each of you who support our people – our resilience, our ability to restore security even after the most devastating mass attacks by Russia. Together we have already achieved a lot. But we should not be afraid to do more.

Putin has now withdrawn 11,000 troops from North Korea to the border of Ukraine. This contingent may grow to 100,000.

While some European leaders are thinking about the possibility of winning some election or something like that at the expense of Ukraine, Putin is focused on winning this war. He will not stop himself. The more time he has, the worse the conditions become.

Every “today” is the best moment to press Russia harder. And this is clear – without certain key factors, Russia will have no real motivation to conduct meaningful negotiations: without fires at ammunition depots on Russian territory, without disrupted military logistics, without destroyed Russian air bases, without lost opportunities to produce missiles and drones, without confiscation of its assets.

You know very well that Putin values neither people nor rules; he values only money and power, and that is what we must take away from him in order to restore peace.

If anyone in Europe thinks they can sell Ukraine or any other country like the Baltics, the Balkans, Georgia or Moldova to Moscow and get something in return, let them remember this simple truth: there is no calm in stormy waters.

We must do everything to end this war – fair and just, as you said, Roberto. And, of course, together. Together.

A thousand days of war is a huge challenge. Huge. Ukraine deserves the fact that next year will be a year of peace.

Thank you!

Thanks again. Thank you very much. Thank you for your resolutions, your decisions, your principles, your visits to Ukraine during the war, during the first year of the war, especially the first year when it was so difficult. And thank you for your faith in Ukraine. Thank you very much.

Glory to Ukraine!
