The Verkhovna Rada adopted the state budget for 2025. 2.2 trillion hryvnias will be allocated to defense

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted the draft state budget for 2025 as a whole, People’s Deputy from the “Holos” faction, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on November 19.

The document was supported by 257 elected representatives.

According to him, the draft state budget foresees record expenditures at the level of 3.94 trillion hryvnias, of which defense expenditures amount to 2.22 trillion hryvnias.

Zheleznyak added that the expected income to the budget is 2.3 trillion hryvnias (141 billion hryvnias from tax bill 11416d).

Also, Ukraine expects foreign financing of 38.4 billion dollars next year.

On October 31, the Verkhovna Rada approved the conclusions and proposals of people’s deputies to the draft law on the state budget for 2025. 247 deputies supported the budget in the first reading.

On November 8, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the project of the 2025 state budget. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that “despite certain changes in the draft state budget, the priority remained unchanged – defense, defense capability and security of Ukraine. The government proposed to allocate 2 trillion 225 billion hryvnias for these needs.”
