During the dispersal of a protest by opposition representatives in Tbilisi on the morning of November 19, 16 rally participants were detained.

Echo of the Caucasus reports this with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, reports Ukrinform.

As noted, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained the participants in an administrative order at the rally on Chavchavadze and Melikishvili avenues in Tbilisi.

Three of the detainees were released, among them Serhiy Baramidze, operator of the opposition channel “Mtavari”, who was beaten and his camera broken while performing his duties.

An employee of the political group of the opposition party “Lelo” Maya Gogidze was released from custody on recognizance. The law enforcement authorities charged her with petty hooliganism and disobedience to the lawful demands of the police.

In the morning of November 19, the law enforcement officers demanded that the participants of the action, who had spent the night on Chavchavadze Avenue, disperse. After the protesters refused to comply with this demand, the security forces began dispersing the rally.

The law enforcement officers also dismantled the tents, and a physical confrontation took place between the rally participants and law enforcement officers.
