Details: A dozen people involved in the implementation of the Russian policy of forced removal and re-education of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories have been sanctioned. The package was timed for the 1000th day since the start of the full-scale war.
In the communique, it was emphasized that more than 19,500 minor Ukrainian citizens are known to have been forcibly deported to Russia or deep into the occupied territories, and about 6,000 of them have passed through “re-education” institutions.
“The Russian authorities educate Ukrainian children according to a program that rewrites the history of Russia and Ukraine, glorifies hostilities conducted by Russia, inculcates loyalty to Russia and sometimes includes elements of military training,” the announcement states.
“No child should ever be used as a pawn in war, but the fact that President Putin has targeted Ukrainian children shows that he is willing to go to great lengths to realize his goal of wiping Ukraine and its people off the map,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs. David Lammy.
The sanctioned list included “Yunarmiya” as an organization, Nikita Nagornyi, Ihor Kazarezov, Andrey Sabinov, Serafim Ivanov, the “Avangard” organization, Valentina Lavryk; Tetyana Zavalska is the head of a boarding school in Kherson appointed by the occupation authorities, 46 pupils of which were taken to Russia for adoption, and Vitaly Suk is the head of a boarding school for children with disabilities in Oleshki, appointed by the occupation authorities.
As you know, the first warrant of the International Criminal Court against the ruler of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Russian ombudsman for children’s rights is connected precisely with their role in the export of Ukrainian children to Russia. Such accusations can potentially be brought against the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
At the end of October, a thematic conference was held in Canada regarding the clause of the “peace formula” on the release of prisoners and the return of Ukrainians deported to Russia.
