““The number of parking spaces for people with disabilities will increase”: Shulyak told when to expect changes Elena Shulyak announced an increase in the number of parking spaces for people with disabilities and increased fines for violations. Implementation of changes is expected within one or two years.”, — write on: unn.ua
She told the journalist about it UNN.
Shulyak notes that the city’s infrastructure was not designed for such a number of cars and the needs of residents. Although new building codes require more parking spaces, developers often ignore these rules to lower construction costs.
She noted that it is necessary to improve the legislation, in particular in terms of responsibility for the design of residential buildings and infrastructure with proper provision of parking spaces.
We need to increase the number of disabled parking spaces as the full scale invasion has led to an increase in the number of people with disabilities who have relevant needs. Obviously, the statistics are currently disappointing. In general, I support the idea of increasing fines for parking in spaces for people with disabilities. I don’t believe that you can just gently persuade people not to break the law. In Kyiv, everyone already knows that a tow truck is expensive, so cars should be parked in designated places. The same should be done in this case
To the journalist’s question, when we can expect an increase in parking spaces for people with disabilities, Shulyak answered:
This is not a quick process, but the very fact that it is being talked about and it is in the barrier-free strategy, the question here is definitely not decades, but a year or two
We will remind
Due to the full-scale war unleashed by Russia, the number of people with disabilities is growing rapidly in Ukraine. These are both veterans who were injured while defending our state from the invaders, and the civilian population, which suffers from constant shelling by Russian terrorists.
Providing them with proper and comfortable living conditions should be one of the main tasks of the Ukrainian government along with defense and economic recovery of the state. Currently, the situation with ensuring barrier-free access in Ukraine remains difficult, despite certain positive developments in recent years.
