Japan has announced a new package of assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector, including the supply of equipment for Odesa and Kharkiv, UNN reports.

Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said during the ceremony of handing over equipment for the energy sector that this is not the first aid from the Japanese government.

Assistance is provided through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In particular, Japan will provide:

15 units of variable frequency drives for the city of Kharkiv through UNDP.

A 16 MW gas turbine for the city of Kharkiv through UNDP.

32 generators with a total capacity of 28 MW for the city of Kharkiv through JICA.

2 units of gas-piston cogeneration units of 3.3 MW each for the city of Odesa through UNDP.

“This is all equipment that will help maintain water supply, heat supply and electricity supply to critical infrastructure in the event of a blackout, or a critical situation in the power system in general,” Galushchenko said.

Addendum

Ukraine and Japan signed an agreement to strengthen security cooperation.
