As of 4:00 p.m., the number of combat clashes at the front increased to 87, the hottest now in the Kurakhiv and Pokrovsky directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the report, the Defense Forces are taking all necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory.

The headquarters reports that in the Pokrovsky direction, with the support of aviation, Russian invaders made 17 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the Myrolyubivka, Promenyu, Lysivka, Petrivka, Pustinka, and Novooleksiivka areas, and in Kurakhivskyi – attacked 23 times near the settlements of Berestka, Sontsivka, Voznesenka, Dalnye, Elizavetivka, Katerynivka and Antonivka.

Russian troops also attacked in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Toretsk, Vremiv and Dnieper directions.

In the Kharkiv Region, the enemy carried out airstrikes on Kozachai Lopan, dropping five anti-aircraft missiles.

The General Staff reminds that an operation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine is ongoing in the Kursk region – since the beginning of the day, Russian aircraft have carried out 15 strikes (21 KAB) on their own territory. Ukrainian soldiers repelled ten Russian attacks today, the fighting continues.

Last day, about half of the front’s skirmishes took place in two directions: Kurakhivskyi and Pokrovskyi. These two areas are the hottest in the last few months.

The American Institute for the Study of War said in a report dated November 17 that Russian forces are likely to focus on capturing front-line Ukrainian cities in winter and on urban fighting.

“Russian troops have recently advanced to Kupyansk and Chasovoy Yar, and such an advance may be part of a concerted effort to advance to front-line cities in preparation for offensive operations in the winter,” analysts say.
