Details: The new British sanctions include freezing the assets of Iran’s national airline, Iran Air, “which will further limit its direct scheduled commercial flights to and from the UK”.
In addition, London imposes sanctions against Iran’s shipping carrier Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and the Russian cargo ship “Port Olya-3”, involved in the transportation of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia.
The measures followed the first steps taken by the British government on September 10 in response to Iran’s transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia, which included the cancellation of bilateral air travel agreements and changes to the sanctions regime.
On November 18, the EU also announced the strengthening of sanctions against Iran in connection with its military support for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
