Details: Landsbergis believes that “de-escalation tactics are no longer effective, and Europe needs a new strategy to support Ukraine.”
“I believe that we have reached the point when we can say that the strategy of how we helped Ukraine for three years, almost a thousand days, has failed,” he emphasized.
Landsbergis also emphasized that “peace through de-escalation is a failure and a failed strategy”, and therefore Europe needs a new one.
However, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania does not believe that the strategy should be based on diplomacy.
“We need a strategy that would come out of strength. […] And when I’m talking about force, I’m talking about weapons, I’m talking about the real removal of all restrictions,” added Landsbergis.
Also, he, commenting on media reports about the USA’s permission to strike the Russian Federation with ATACMS missiles, said that it is important to know the number of such weapons available to the Ukrainian forces.
As the media reported, US President Joe Biden for the first time gave permission to Ukraine to use long-range American weapons on the territory of the Russian Federation.
According to the Axios portal, it is currently about the territory of the Kursk region, and the decision was conceived as a reaction to the involvement of North Korean troops in the war.
At the same time, The New York Times wrote that the White House refused to directly confirm Ukraine’s permission to use long-range missiles on military targets located on the territory of Russia, but mentioned that they were developing a response to the involvement of North Korean troops in the war.
