In Khmelnytskyi, a car drove into a public transport stop, three people died, the police detained a drunken driver, the GUNP in Khmelnytskyi region reported on Monday, writes UNN.

The accident happened today, November 18, at 7:20 a.m. at the bus stop on Zarichanska Street, 9.

“The driver of the BMW X6 car, moving along Zarichanska Street, collided with the Skoda Octavia and Mazda cars, after which he drove into a public transport stop. As a result of the accident, three women (ages 60, 56 and 53) , who were standing at the bus stop, died from their injuries,” the police reported.

“The driver was driving with obvious signs of intoxication. The police detained him at the scene,” the law enforcement officers said.

Based on this fact, the investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 Art. 286-1 (Violation of traffic safety rules or transport operation by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated, which caused the death of several persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides from 7 to 12 years of imprisonment.
