The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km from the northeastern coast of the island of Amami Oshima. According to the country’s Meteorological Agency, ground tremors were felt in the cities of Amami and Kagoshima. The magnitude of tremors in some areas was 2-3 points.
In the last five hours, another six earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.4 to 6 occurred in the region.
It is noted that sea level fluctuations are likely to last for 2-3 hours along the coast of the Tanegashima and Yakushima regions, Amami and Tokara islands.
