German arms exports are approaching a new record.

From January 1 to October 15 of this year, 4,163 export licenses for weapons and military equipment worth 10.9 billion euros were issued, the Ministry of Economy reported.
This means that it is only 1.3 billion euros short of last year’s record amount of 12.2 billion euros.
Two-thirds of this year’s sum, 7.2 billion euros, is for military armaments.
The growth is largely related to the export of weapons to Ukraine for the defensive struggle against Russia. In the first half of 2024, military equipment worth 4.9 billion euros was approved for Ukraine.
At the beginning of October, it became known that for the first time in recent years, Germany approved significant volumes of arms deliveries to Turkey.
Last year, German arms exports reached an all-time high, amounting to 12.2 billion euros, of which 4.4 billion euros went to arms supplies to Ukraine.
