As a result of the IDF airstrike on Beirut, the head of the media relations department of the Lebanese movement “Hezbollah”, Mohammad Afif, was eliminated. This was reported by Reuters with reference to two sources in the Lebanese security forces.
The missile hit the building where the offices of the ruling Syrian Baath party are located. The head of the party in Lebanon, Ali Hijazi, told Al-Jadeed that Afif was in the building. Later, the TV channel reported that Afif had died and showed footage of the building, the upper floors of which fell on first floor
The district of Ras-en-Nabaa, the capital of Lebanon, was hit in the central part. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that one person was killed and three others were injured as a result of the strike.
- Afif was a longtime media relations adviser to former Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in a suburb of Beirut on September 27. For several years, he ran Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV channel and then headed the Iranian-backed group’s media relations department.
- Hezbollah and Israel have been locked in a firefight for more than a year since Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israeli military targets on October 8, 2023, the day after its Palestinian ally Hamas launched a deadly attack in southern Israel.
