Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau believes that the war in Ukraine may end in a few months. This was reported by Bloomberg on Sunday, November 17.
Trudeau supported a recent call by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
“We all understand how important it is to put an end to violence in Ukraine, to put an end to conflicts around the world. It requires a certain level of engagement with colleagues with whom we disagree in many cases,” Trudeau said during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru.
Trudeau emphasized that Canada supports the victory of Ukraine and seeks the earliest possible end to the war, suggesting that it could happen already “in the coming months.”
On November 14, US President-elect Donald Trump made a new statement regarding Ukraine and emphasized that his administration will “pay special attention” to the settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that under the Trump administration, the war will end faster.
On November 17, Russian troops used about 120 missiles and 90 drones in Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed more than 140 aerial targets, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.
What is known about Scholz’s phone conversation with Putin
On November 15, Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the first time in almost two years.
In the conversation, he condemned Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and called on Putin to withdraw his troops.
Scholz also stated that Germany is ready to help Ukraine as much as it will be needed. Before the conversation, the German chancellor also spoke with Zelenskyi.
