This year, at the expense of subvention from the state budget, our region has already received UAH 700 million for the purchase of housing for 300 veterans and family members of the dead. The additional resource will help provide housing for even more of our defenders.
In general, thanks to the initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, by the end of the year, more than UAH 4.1 billion will be allocated from the state budget to cover the need for housing for 1,836 families of veterans from among IDPs and persons with disabilities as a result of the war 1, 2 groups and families of the fallen.
“The priority task is the creation of veteran spaces on the ground. Currently, 3 veteran hubs in Brovary, Boryspil and Irpen are operating in Kyiv region, which work according to the principle of “single window”. The opening of a space in the city of Bila Tserkva is planned soon, and systematic work is underway to so that institutions of complex support for defenders appear in every territorial community,” said the head of Kyiv OVA.
Also, two Centers for Veteran Development are operating in the region on the basis of Bilotserkiv National Agrarian University and Hryhoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav.
The state is actively implementing the Institute of Specialists for the Escort of War Veterans and Demobilized Persons. And Kyiv Oblast is the leader in terms of submitted applications from candidates for participation in this project. Such specialists will provide an individual approach and help in the adaptation of defenders to civilian life.
“An important role in the integration of veterans is also played by state programs to promote employment and support veteran businesses. And within the framework of the Kyiv Regional Program for the Support of Defenders of Ukraine and their families, a number of new measures were foreseen this year – in addition to dental services, a resource was allocated for maxillofacial operations for military personnel and veterans. And Kyiv region is constantly working on expanding the types of assistance to heroes,” added Kravchenko.
