Japan and Ukraine have agreed to conduct a bilateral dialogue on security issues with the participation of the ministries of foreign affairs and defense against the background of the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya, at a joint briefing with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sibiga, in Kyiv.
He noted that the parties discussed in detail the “extremely alarming situation” with the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia and their direct participation in the war against Ukraine. Ivaya expressed deep concern, because this will have a negative impact not only on the situation in Ukraine, but also on Asia, and he also condemned such activities.
“In view of such concerns, we have agreed to conduct a bilateral dialogue on security issues at the highest level with the participation of the heads of foreign policy and defense departments with the aim of further strengthening the exchange of information and cooperation in the field of security. In this way, security cooperation between Japan and Ukraine will advance more systematically within the framework of such a dialogue,” the head of Japanese diplomacy announced.
It will be recalled that Andrii Sybiga announced during a joint press conference that North Korea is helping Russia in the war against Ukraine, and in exchange Pyongyang wants to receive Russian technologies.
Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya visited Ukraine for talks with government officials. The visit of the Japanese diplomat was not announced in advance.
Earlier we wrote that the Japanese commercial manufacturer of industrial drones Prodrone intends to supply its products to Ukraine for use in humanitarian demining operations.
We will also remind that the United States, South Korea and Japan announced the creation of a new multinational group to monitor the implementation of sanctions against North Korea.
