The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the name of the celebrity who will host the 97th Oscar ceremony. The famous American comedian, TV presenter, screenwriter and producer of Irish origin Conan O’Brien will appear on the stage of the film award in 2025. The name of the host was announced by the CEO of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Bill Kramer, and the president of the Academy, Janet Young. This will be O’Brien’s first time hosting the Oscars.

The choice of host of the ceremony of O’Brien was a real surprise, since his name was not mentioned in the list of possible hosts of the Oscar-2025 award. Earlier, sources said that the academy was leaning towards a format in which there were several presenters. Deadpool and Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were also considered to host the ceremony. However, Reynolds called it unlikely at the time.

Conan O’Brien rose to fame as host of the late-night talk shows Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Conan. He won five Emmy Awards and received 31 nominations for his work.

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theater.
