The information spread in some mass media about the automatic deprivation of driver’s licenses for failure to appear on a summons is not true. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs about this.
In practice, a driver’s license cannot be revoked due to such non-appearance.
However, the law provides for the following:
Temporary restriction of the right to drive can be applied to citizens who evade military duty only by a court decision.
For this:
The territorial recruitment center must apply to the court with a claim if a citizen ignores the requirements for military service.
The procedure for filing a lawsuit must include a detailed description of the requirements that must be met and documentary evidence of the citizen’s evasion of duties.
After considering the claim, the court makes a decision on the temporary restriction of the right to drive the vehicle, only if the fact of evasion and non-fulfillment of military duty by the citizen is confirmed.
Therefore, the decision on the temporary restriction of driver’s license is made only after the case is reviewed in court and upon confirmation of the violation of the requirements for the performance of military duty.
