This year, journalist Viktoriya Kurochka won the competition for the Radio Liberty Regional Reporting Fellowship program. Under the terms of the scholarship, she will work in the Kyiv bureau of Radio Liberty for eight months.

Victoria Kurochka graduated from the master’s program in journalism at Poltava State University. She worked as a journalist for the “Ukraine” channel, as an information producer for the “Vikna” news service, as well as for the “STB” TV channel, was involved in documentaries, and collaborated with international production companies.

The journalist, together with Albert Tsukrenko, co-authored the documentary film “Russification in Pop Style”. In 2022, a review of the documentary film “What’s Next?”, co-produced by Ukraine and Austria, took place. The film was presented in the out-of-competition program of the “Youth” festival.

“For me, Radio Svoboda is an example of the highest journalistic standards. Participation in various projects of the editorial office will give an opportunity to feel the trends and current challenges of reporting journalism in wartime. Since the next step for me will be, I hope, a professional post-graduate course, this program is practical work that will provide a basis for scientific work,” admits Viktoriya Kurochka.

Fellows are involved in the daily work of the bureau, where they work full-time and have the opportunity to produce journalistic content, participate in editorial discussions and training.

Previously, Olena Vyskolyan, Antonina Andriychuk, Olga Ivleva, Iryna Maslyukova, Yuliya Turchynska, Anastasia Magazova, Nataliya Patrikeeva, Viktoriya Zhugan, Olga Komarova and Mykhailo Shtekel were appointed scholarship holders of the program.
