The Shevchenkivskiy District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure for People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrych, who is accused of treason. He will remain under arrest until December 5, writes “Suspilne”.

The People’s Deputy’s defense petitioned for a change in the preventive measure and stated that “Sufrich’s suspicion is unfounded.”

“He has been in the SIZO for 14 months, without an indictment. He was more useful in the parliament. He has a number of illnesses, just like his father. There are reasons to review the decision, any precautionary one, in order to implement their decisions,” said the lawyer.

Also today, the Shevchenkiv court considered a preventive measure for Shufrych’s former assistant, V’yacheslav Cherepany. He asked the court for 24-hour house arrest.

The prosecutor, in turn, objected.

“The suspicion is well-founded, the risks have not decreased. Therefore, the preventive measure of detention should be continued,” he said.

In December 2023, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended Shufrych’s preventive measure in the form of detention.

In April, the SBU reported the detention of Shufrych’s assistant in the case of Russian Guard funding.
