It is reported that the 44-year-old man headed the enterprise, which offered hazardous waste disposal services without licenses and the appropriate material and technical base. The company concluded contracts with state and private enterprises for such services.
At the same time, an unauthorized landfill was set up on a leased plot of land in the Kyiv region. Toxic substances were brought there and simply buried in the ground, including mercury lamps, expired medicines, etc. According to environmental safety standards, such substances must be disposed of without harming the environment.
According to the expert opinion, the land plots are contaminated with copper, chromium, zinc and phosphorus. The damage caused to state interests amounts to over 9 million hryvnias
During searches of the places of residence of the accused, the police seized “draft” records, seals, stamps and 4 cars, which were used to carry out illegal activities.
All members of the criminal group were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 28 part 2 of Art. 239 of the Criminal Code (Land pollution by substances harmful to people and the environment, committed by an organized group). They face up to five years behind bars.
