“This is unacceptable. Do the people of Italy live in a democracy or does an unelected autocracy make the decisions?” – asked the billionaire.
In response, Mattarella’s office on the same social network X (Twitter) emphasized that Italy is a “great democratic country” and “knows how to take care of itself, respecting its constitution.”
“Anyone, especially if, as has been announced, he is going to take on an important governmental role in a friendly and allied country, he must respect its sovereignty and cannot ascribe to himself the task of giving it prescriptions,” the Italian president added.
Although he did not directly name Musk, the latter, as is known, will head the newly created Ministry for the Efficiency of State Apparatus (MoPED) in the administration of Donald Trump.
What preceded: An agreement between Albania and Italy came into effect in October, according to which men from countries considered safe who have been detained in international waters while trying to cross the border from Africa to Europe are transferred to two Albanian centers.
