“We also discussed deliveries of air defense equipment next year and the potential for additional assistance from Germany in the air defense sector,” the Ukrainian president noted.
He said that during the conversation with Scholz, he coordinated steps to ensure the best possible defense and political support for Ukraine.
“We agreed on the importance of preserving the Rammstein format and holding the next meeting of the coordination group,” Zelenskyy added.
He also thanked Scholz “for Germany’s significant bilateral defense assistance and its leadership in uniting partners to support Ukraine.”
“I also emphasized that Ukraine’s vision of a just and lasting peace should be presented at the G20 summit in Brazil, and I thanked Germany for its willingness to support us in these efforts,” Zelenskyy summarized.
In turn, Scholz’s office informed that the head of the German government confirmed Germany’s unchanging and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, which has been going on for almost 1,000 days.
He assured that Germany will continue to provide support to Ukraine, particularly in the military sphere.
What preceded: Germany reported that, together with three other NATO countries, it is preparing a large package of military aid for Ukraine for 1.4 billion euros, which is planned to be provided by the end of 2024.
In early September, Scholz announced that Germany had ordered 17 IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine.
At the beginning of October, the Ministry of Defense of Germany disclosed that Germany had recently handed over to Ukraine new IRIS-T medium and short-range air defense systems.
