Private donations to support the military in Ukraine have decreased significantly this year. According to the volunteers, the main reasons were the population’s economic difficulties and war fatigue.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

Thus, Serhiy Prytula’s foundation, which in 2022 was able to raise funds for the purchase of a satellite for the Ukrainian army, this year is experiencing difficulties in collecting the necessary sums. Donations to his platform fell by about 20%. Prytula added that much more work is needed to achieve similar results now.

Among other charitable organizations that have experienced a decrease in donor activity is the “Return Alive” fund. The largest military charity in Ukraine announced a reduction in donations by approximately 15%.

Another NGO, Reactive Post, reported receiving 40% fewer donations this year compared to the same period in 2023. At the same time, “Army SOS”, which collects funds for defense software, recorded a tenfold decrease in donations.

According to the volunteers, the main reasons for this decline were economic difficulties, in particular rising prices and higher taxes. As an example, last summer, when power outages began in Ukraine, citizens preferred to buy generators rather than support the army.

According to a survey by the Ilko Kucheriv Foundation and the Razumkov Center, more than a third of Ukrainians have reduced their donations this year compared to the previous year.

Some volunteers point out that people have adapted to the war, perceiving it as distant from everyday life. In turn, this affects the willingness to support the army. Also, some citizens decide to directly help their acquaintances or relatives at the front, bypassing volunteer organizations.

We will remind you that in 2023, Ukrainians donated 27.4 billion through monobank in 2023, then in 2022 this amount was 8.5 billion.

It was reported that a 26-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih was suspected of fraud, who allegedly collected money for cars for the military and for the treatment of the seriously wounded, but lost them in a casino.
