A former doctor was detained in Lviv, who offered to “help” a soldier get a disability group for $5,000.
She has already been charged with suspicion, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
According to the investigation, the woman asked for $5,000 for her “services”. With these funds, she could allegedly influence the officials of the regional medical and social expert commission (MSEK) to make a decision on disability. She assured the soldier that if he refused to give a bribe, he would allegedly not be able to get a disability group in any other way.
The former doctor was detained while handing over the entire sum of the bribe. She was charged with abusing her influence and receiving an illegal benefit.
If proven guilty, the woman faces three to eight years behind bars with confiscation of property.
Meanwhile, in the Kirovohrad region, the head of the district medical and social expert commission was detained. The official demanded a bribe from a paralyzed soldier of the Armed Forces.
Earlier we wrote that the Government approved the draft law, which provides for the liquidation of medical and social expert commissions (MSEK) from January 1. Instead of MSEK, there will be teams of practicing doctors who will work in the strongest hospitals of a capable network of medical facilities.
