The 49-year-old British writer Samantha Harvey won the Booker literary prize for her novel “Orbital”. This is reported by AP, transmits UNN.

This work tells about the lives of six astronauts from Japan, the Russian Federation, the USA, Great Britain and Italy, who spend a day on the International Space Station, orbiting the Earth. The novel covers themes of sadness, desire and the climate crisis, exploring the relationship between humans and the planet.

During the speech, Harvey noted that observing the Earth from space is like seeing yourself from the outside.

This year’s award celebrated a record number of women, as the final list of nominees included five writers. The prize for this award is £50,000 (around €60,000).

The Man Booker Prize is awarded to works of fiction written in English and published in Great Britain or Ireland.
