A court in Kyiv sentenced one of the participants in the road conflict that took place in the Holosiivskyi district of the city in October 2022 and resulted in the death of a military man to 13 years in prison, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on November 12.

According to the report, he was found guilty of premeditated murder. The court found two more people guilty of hooliganism and sentenced each to three years of imprisonment.

The prosecutor’s office recalled that on October 21, 2022, on Akademik Glushkov Avenue in Kyiv, a dispute arose between a military man driving a Hyundai car and a Lexus driver regarding the right of way. “During the conflict, the passengers of the Lexus car beat the victim, and the driver shot the soldier. After that, the men left the scene. The victim died of his injuries on the spot,” the OGP said.

The prosecutor’s office noted that they asked the court to find the driver of the Lexus guilty of premeditated murder committed with hooligan motives and to sentence him to 15 years in prison, and to find the passengers of this car guilty of hooliganism with the use of weapons and to sentence each of them to 7 years in prison torture

Prosecutors will appeal the court’s verdict, the OGP noted, adding that the accused will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final. There are no comments from the latter.
