“COP29 – the main UN climate summit of the year – opens in Baku today. Despite the full-scale war, Ukraine is presenting its pavilion for the third time. This year, it is dedicated to the theme of joint efforts that grow into big changes,” the message reads.
According to the Ministry of Environment, “the main material of the pavilion was Ukrainian ecological paper with live seeds of various herbs.” On it, the artist Oleksandra Zhumailova created an image with an area of more than 120 square meters, placing 50 key environmental initiatives of the state, business and public of Ukraine. Among them are technologies of digitalized agriculture, developments in the field of renewable energy and demining, startups that create paper from fallen leaves, carbon dioxide traps, an ecological alternative to foam plastic, mobile printer factories and other Ukrainian innovations that are already used in the USA, Great Britain and of Japan
“An important emphasis is placed on President Zelensky’s Peace Formula as a platform for the formation of international principles of environmental security, on the main principle of recovery – build back greener, as well as on the need to compensate for the damage caused to the environment due to Russia’s aggression,” the Ministry of Environment reported.
On November 11, the COP29 UN climate change conference begins in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. This year’s summit is being called the “finance COP” because for the first time in 15 years, the volume and structure of financing for developing countries to support climate change action will be considered.
