“It has been agreed that preparatory work will begin”: Sybig regarding the upcoming meeting between Zelenskyi and Trump

The teams of the newly elected US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky are already at the stage of preparing a meeting between the leaders of the two countries, said Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga during a briefing on the occasion of the visit to Ukraine of the head of the EU foreign policy service, Josep Borrell.

“The dialogue between President Zelensky and President-elect Trump has already been established and established. The speed of conducting a telephone conversation after (Trump’s election victories – ed.) it proves Of course, future contacts at the leadership level were discussed. It was agreed that the teams would start preparatory work for organizing such a meeting. This is what I can tell you as of now,” Sybiga told reporters.

It is known that the visit of the high representative of the EU Borrell to Ukraine is partly connected with the recent elections in the USA.

“After the elections in the USA and the meeting of the Council of the European Union in Budapest, the European Union continues to support you and this support remains unchanged for you to resist Russian aggression,” Borrell said.

The high representative of the EU also refrained from making further predictions in relations with the USA.

“It is still too early to say what the new US administration will do. We can’t make things up here. We will remind that on June 27, we, Ukraine and the EU, signed the Security Commitments – these are long-term commitments in the military, financial, humanitarian, and security spheres. And regarding political support. These commitments are relevant,” Borrell assured.
