Kei Nishikori came close to returning to the top 100 of the world ranking after winning the tournament in Helsinki. He beat Italy’s Luca Nardi (ATP 102) in Sunday’s final to win his first title in more than a year – since June 2023.

The former world number four started the year outside the top 350 due to injuries, but is steadily moving up the ranks. He is expected to rank 107th in the updated ATP rankings.

After hip surgery in 2022, Nishikori returned to the court only in June 2023 and, despite a knee injury, continues to climb the rankings.
