All who work with children now are agents of the future. The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska stated this in an address to the participants of the fourth Autumn Nursing Forum in Lviv. The theme of this year’s event is “Nursing for the protection of childhood”.
The President’s wife thanked the Ukrainian nurses for their work. She emphasized that now, in the conditions of constant missile and drone attacks, they all contribute to the defense of the country.
“In the first minutes after the Russian bombing “Okhmatdyt” it was medical workers, in particular nurses, nurses, doctors, who responded quickly and saved children from the consequences of the attack. Therefore, the name of your event is “Nursing for the protection of childhood” – is now so meaningful. You always protected your little patients from diseases. And now they have also become protective against the war, from what it brings,” said the first lady.
One of the panel discussions of the event was devoted to the implementation of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”. In particular, it was about the integration of mental health services into the system of primary medical care. More than 108,000 doctors have already been trained under the WHO mhGAP program and have mastered the skills of helping in mental health issues.
“Nowadays, children experience stress and anxiety just like adults. We are talking about almost 80% of Ukrainians. And it is very important for nursing to recognize these conditions professionally and provide help in time so that they do not turn into a traumatic experience for life,” Olena Zelenska emphasized.
Doctors from different regions of the country, representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Coordinating Center for Mental Health, experts took part in the forum.
