The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the draft decree, which amends the legislation on military service in the State Border Service.
According to People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, these innovations include several important provisions.
First, conscript border guards can now be transferred to service during mobilization. An opportunity has also been introduced for border guards who have been wounded or injured to take leave for treatment with the preservation of wages.
In addition, servicemen who were called up during mobilization can continue to serve under a contract. There is also a specific order of service for reservists and chaplains during martial law.
Medical leave can last up to 12 months to allow border guards to fully recover from their injuries. Also, servicemen who are on leave to take care of a child (up to 3 years old or in some cases up to 6 years old) are given the opportunity to remain at the disposal of the border service.
In addition, the conscription age was lowered from 27 to 25 years.
