At the summit in Budapest, there was “dangerous rhetoric” regarding the ceasefire – Zelensky

“Ceasefire when there are no security guarantees… is preparation for the continuation of the occupation of Ukraine and the destruction of our independence and sovereignty. This is what ceasefire means today””, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on November 7 that talks about a ceasefire in the war with Russia without prior agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine, which were heard, in particular, by some leaders at the summit of the European political community in Budapest, are “very dangerous”.

“We understand which leaders implement and promote this rhetoric. As for ceasefire (ceasefire – ed.)first ceasefire and then “let’s see”. A very scary challenge for all our citizens. First a ceasefire and then we’ll see. who are you Are your children dying, are they dying there, are your homes being destroyed? What is this about?” Zelenskyy said at a press conference following his participation in the summit of the European Political Community in Budapest.

According to him, the ceasefire since 2014, when Russia occupied Crimea and part of Donbas, ended with preparations for a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Ceasefire when there are no security guarantees… is preparation for the continuation of the occupation of Ukraine and the destruction of our independence and sovereignty. This is what ceasefire means today,” the president said.

“It’s called sofa experts. There is no other way to call it. People who did not survive the war, experienced it in books, in movies… People who have been in contact with Putin for years, months, hugs, etc., but have never fought with him. And this is analytics without a deep understanding of the war, the consequences of the war and the risks for oneself,” Zelenskyy added.

According to him, the ceasefire model can be heard from some leaders in Europe, as well as from Brazil and China. “And it is important that we definitely hear this from Russia. This is a great model for the Russian Federation,” the head of state said.

At a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on October 16, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, presented the points of his proposed “victory plan” for Ukraine in the war with Russia. It consists of five public items and several classified applications. According to the president, the first point is to invite Ukraine to NATO.

Zelensky previously stated that Kyiv’s allies agree that it is necessary to invite representatives of the Russian side to the second peace summit, who, according to him, should familiarize themselves with the victory plan proposed by him.

In September, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow did not and would not participate in the peace summit because “this process has nothing to do with the settlement.”

On September 24, the President of Ukraine stated, speaking at the UN Security Council, that Putin violated “many international rules, he will not stop on his own, Russia can only be forced to peace.”
