“Tariffs for gas, heating and hot water will increase from 2026 – the forecast of the National Bank of Ukraine predicts that the tariffs for gas, heating and hot water will remain unchanged until 2026. After that, a gradual increase to economically justified levels is expected due to the difficult situation in the energy sector.”, — write on: unn.ua
Writes UNN with reference to the Inflation Report of the NBU.
The NBU expects that the current tariffs for gas, heating and hot water supply will not be revised during 2024‒2025. However, in view of the difficult situation in the energy industry, it is predicted that from 2026 these tariffs will begin to be gradually reduced to their economically reasonable levels
The National Bank notes that the uncertainty regarding the timing and size of tariff increases, especially for energy, creates risks for the inflation forecast.
If energy and utility tariffs rise sharply, this will add to inflation and increase the need for subsidies for the population, and delaying tariff increases will reduce inflation in the short term, but lead to financial problems in state-owned power companies, in particular due to quasi-fiscal imbalances.
This could cause instability in the energy market, reduce investment in the industry and carry price pressures into the future.
We will remind
Back in July of this year, the Ministry of Energy stated that they are not yet considering raising the electricity tariff to UAH 7, although the cost of electricity for the population after the tariff increase remains one of the lowest in Europe.
