“Military counter-intelligence of the Security Service with the assistance of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who was preparing a new series of Russian airstrikes in Volyn. He turned out to be a 30-year-old serviceman serving in the security unit of the local TCC. According to the case file, he was recruited remotely by a personnel officer of the military intelligence of the Russian Federation (better known as the game),” the SBU reported.

According to the materials of the proceedings, the person involved tried to establish and hand over to the aggressor the locations of the bases of units of the Armed Forces, the Security Service and the National Police. “To fulfill this task, the agent drove around the area in a company car under the guise of business trips and recorded the location of military facilities,” the SBU reported.

Also, according to the SBU, he tried to detect radar stations and anti-aircraft missile complexes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to carry out enemy attacks “bypassing” Ukrainian air defense.

“The agent sent the received information to his Russian curator through an anonymous chat in the messenger,” the special service said.

The military counterintelligence of the SBU, as indicated, exposed the Russian agent, documented his crimes and detained him. At the same time, additional measures were taken to secure the locations of the Defense Forces.

The agent was informed of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
