Russia mostly ignores Ukraine’s requests regarding the whereabouts of Ukrainian prisoners, which is why the Ukrainian side is seeking the support of third countries in this matter.
This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, in his Telegram channel.
Lubinets noted that the Office of the Ombudsman sends requests to the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Tetyana Moskalkova at the request of the families of missing Ukrainians. However, Russia rarely provides information on the places of detention of Ukrainian citizens.
He also noted that Russia ignores initiatives to create mixed medical commissions and return citizens under the “I want to go home” project, and also does not provide information on visits to Ukrainian prisoners, both military and civilian.
Ukraine continues to seek the support of third countries to implement the fourth point of the peace formula, which provides for the return of illegally detained citizens. To date, 168 civilians have been returned from Russian captivity.
